Hi, My name is Gabrielle.
I’m a classically trained artist based just outside of Charleston, South Carolina. In 2023, I left a career in international relations to become a full-time professional artist, and now I get to do what I love every day.
I create murals, relief sculpture, and original paintings. I think of my work as having two wings: one wing that is dedicated to transforming spaces, the other wing dedicated to expressing my inner experience.
Most of my artistic training took place during ages 13-17 when I worked with a mentor who taught me techniques and design principles of the European old masters. This training is the undercurrent of most of what I create now; however, a large part of my work creating murals and relief sculpture is self-taught.
Through murals and relief sculpture, my aim is to create an emotional connection between person and space. This part of my work is inherent collaborative, and offers the chance to co-create with the client to breathe life into their space.
In my studio work, I like to combine classical fine art training with elements of illustration. Specifically, my artwork often depicts my personal story, symbolism found in wildlife, myths and legends, or the work of my favorite author, J. R. R. Tolkien. It is a dream of mine to one day call myself a “Tolkien artist.”
Sustainability is another important part of my practice. A lot of my work depicts nature; therefore, I endeavor to respect it both in the way I depict it, and also the materials I use in my practice. I choose responsibly sourced and reclaimed materials whenever possible, and work exclusively with non-VOC paints to reduce impact on my clients, myself, and the environment.
Thank you for being here. It is my intention that this work awakens something ancient within you, and invites joyous reverence.
